New domain – update feeds, bookmarks etc!!

12 May

Hi everyone,

I promise this is the last time I move anything! I have relocated this blog to http://theredwren.com because I prefer having a non-hyphenated domain. It looks the same and has all my previous content etc.

I’m not sure how feeds will work once I put a redirect on this domain so- if you’d like to keep following me, head on over to The Red Wren and either click on ‘Follow Me’ in my sidebar, or add me using the RSS icon in the address bar (or however else you do it!).

Sorry for the inconvenience! Hope to see you there!!

Here’s some interesting fungus seen in Croydon last weekend.

Birdies!

3 Mar

Hello! I say it every year; I can’t believe it’s March already! February seemed to fly by and I haven’t finished half of my craft projects. March intends to be the month where I make myself lots of clothes- we’ll see!

I looked out the window the other day and saw these two hanging out on the tomato stakes! Aren’t they sweet.

hahahaha

It always pays to check things one, twice and three times before launching.. I had wondered why no one at all had subscribed to my blog despite having oh maybe three regular readers for Hollyhock Hollow… well my feed link is broken, isn’t it.

Better rectify that tonight!

How did I end up here?

I redirected my Hollyhock Hollow domain to Red-Wren today – so if you’ve found yourself here thinking you would be there it’s ok! You’re in the right place!

Updates- playing with styles and memes

14 Jan

  • I’ve almost finished styling the theme. It’s taken me quite a few hours this week as I love to actually go into the back end (rather than choose from ‘theme options’), change code, move things around… I’m happy with the results, but there’s still a few more tweaks.
  • Adding a new theme made me realise that my blog categories and  tags are all over the place, so I’m working on fixing those.
  • When my styling was very much in progress and I hadn’t added widgets to the sidebar I realised I don’t update enough. There wasn’t a lot of actual content once I got rid of the links.
  • While pondering on said content I realised there’s whole months where the only thing I posted were meme’s. One Sunday Stash after another… so I’ve made some decisions:
  1. I will no longer be participating in Sunday Stash on my blog. There’s an excellent Flickr pool that supports it, so I’ll just post there.
  2. Friday Flickr Favourites is fun because I like making mosaics, but it’s also very time consuming because I like to pick a theme then the pics all have to come from Flickr (hence Friday Flickr Favourites -duh)- so I won’t join in on that anymore. If people want to see my Flickr favs they can visit my Flickr linked in the sidebar.
  3. Because I like making inspiration mosaics and can at times go nuts with them, I’m creating my own little meme called ‘Theme it up Thursday’. What is it? Well, aside from an excuse to post inspiration mosaics every week… no  really- pick a theme, then post something about it.  It might be a mosaic, it could be something else. I will be posting my first one later tonight (actually no, I won’t be. My camera battery died mid photo transfer…sigh)
  • I’ve been reading some excellent blog articles lately on people jumping on craft trends to make money, or blogging solely to get people to notice their wares/stores. I have noticed this a lot lately and find myself checking the ‘about’ page to see if the poster is even a real person. It’s nice to have a professional looking blog with lots of resources, but it’s also nice to ‘meet’ the face behind it too.
