Cider Festival

2 May

Today Col and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary at the Kellybrook Winery Cider Festival!

It was lots of fun! Cider, more cider, apple themed desserts, pork and apple rolls, mulled cider….did I mention there was cider?

I suspect these apples were pressed for juice.

These are the Britannia Morris Dancers. It looks like lots of fun!

Col with mulled cider – a few too many cloves in it for my liking.

Lots of apples! I quite like the crates.

All in all, a wonderful day!

New Bike!

27 Mar

I finally have my new bike! Hooray! I’ve been waiting months for this.

isn't she pretty?

She’s an Avanti Metro 8c, if you click the image you can see more about her!

After having a bike that is too small for me for a long time this one is just a dream to ride. I can’t wait to deck her out with some pretty panniers and a wicker basket.

The Lovely Blogger List

23 Mar

The Lovelies

Something fun! I’ve been thinking of my blog of late and came to the realisation that it’s not particularly personable. When I first started on one of the previous incarnations of Red Wren I wanted to keep it relatively ‘faceless’ as I already had online journals elsewhere and this was my more ‘public’ profile. My thinking has since changed  and I want people to feel like they know a little about me and are welcome at my blog. Luckily Lovely Clusters has a very timely idea called ‘The Lovely Blogger List‘.

You should visit her site and do yours too!

My name is Renae, but online I tend to go by Ren. I live in Melbourne, Australia with my husband, Colin and a black kitty who’s really sable called Cinders. At this stage my full time occupation in Training Compliance eats a lot of my time and my dreams remain just those. I’d love to have a little cozy coffee shop with handmade items and books in the future.

I love all things creative but the main ones that consume my spare time are sewing, creating jewellery and web design. Sometimes I think I enjoy recoding my blog more than actually updating it (and the lack of updates possibly reflect this!). Of late I’m interested in vintage patterns and want to revisit jewellery. Hopefully I’ll have some dress/jewellery combos to share soon!

I follow a lot of blogs and find other crafters/designers incredibly inspiring. I also spend quite a lot of time looking at pretty pictures on Flickr. Outside of the online world I’m inspired by crisp Autumn days when the sky is the perfect shade of blue and the light shines through the Autumn leaves with that beautiful glow.

I look forward to meeting you too!
