Crochet Blanket

8 Mar

I’ve started to crochet a blanket. Yay!

excuse the bad lighting!

I’m using the Summer Garden Granny Square pattern which I found here via Ravelry. It’s so pretty. All of the squares will have the last round in white, but I’ll mix up the centres.

Nine Squares

10 Feb

Wow my first February post? I remember the same thing happening last year; I was all enthusiastic about craft projects (and home projects for that matter), then I settled back in the routine of full time work and all I wanted to do once home was relax and read other people’s blogs. How do you keep your crafty projects a priority?

Today I was home sick, nothing major, just a tummy bug. While relaxing I crocheted up the remaining three of my nine squares. Why nine? Well, it seemed like a good number for a cushion and also not too many to commit to in my still very beginner stage.

There’s a problem though:

Nine isn’t quite enough to cover the cushion insert I have lying around… what to do? I could keep going and make 18, I could get a bit creative with fabric to fill in the gaps or… I could just get a smaller cushion because I have other crochet projects to move onto! What would you do?

More Grannies!

I’m on a roll now! Two more squares today! I now have three!

My hands hurt a bit now though. Does this get better in time?

Granny Squares

A few weeks back I enthusiastically signed up for Pip of Meet me at Mike’s Granny a Day 2010. It’s taken me a little while to get started and there’s been a lot of pulling apart failed first attempts, but today it finally clicked and I made my first ever square! It’s wonky and my hands hurt but by golly am I proud!

I’m rather optimistically making them in our lounge room decor colours as I’m visualising the finished product will be a cushion cover.

Yay!

Yarn stash?

13 Apr

If you’d asked me a couple of days ago to show you my yarn stash I would have pulled out a couple of balls of yarn, some half done knitting and a pair of needles. Over the weekend it has grown…..

Not a large stash, but enough to get me going. I’ve been adding patterns left right and centre to my Ravelry queue so it’s time to get knitting!

Here’s my current project:

Legwarmers for ballet new week!
