Canvas wall art

21 Feb

I embarked on two projects this weekend, but they ended up being one!

Project 1.

A 1mx1.5m canvas painted in a bright ’sprig green’ to add some colour to our back room which has cream walls and dark furniture.

Project 2.

Pictures from a free Notebook Magazine calendar glued onto 50cmx70cm canvases.

Project Combine:

I wasn’t happy with the canvas on it’s own once we hung it. It looked a bit too out of place. The flower canvases looked ok for what they were but I wasn’t sure where to actually hang them. Then the lightbulb moment came! Perhaps I could attach the flower canvases to the green canvas in a way that if it looks bad I can still unattach them…. a few lengths of ribbon, my trusty staple gun and some more paint and we have:

A little wonky, but I’m so happy with it! The wall looks much less drab and the whole project was under $50. Yay!

Turquoise! Hooray! One of my favourite colours – just look at today’s washing:

I’ve spent today doing some sorting and organising in my study and had a poke around on Flickr for some inspiration. I really wish I could have some of the options below. It’s not so much the colour schemes I like, more the way they look uncluttered despite having quite a few things there. Needless to say my home does not look like these! I need to work on my skills!

Huge cleanup!

4 May

I’m in the process of doing a rather large scale clean out of my study/craft room. I still have a little way to go (and I still haven’t found the perfect wall colour!), but I’ve managed to arrange my study into areas – computer, craft, exercise. The real point of this post aside from me rambling away is to show you these amazing craft rooms that we can all aspire to have! My fabric storage shelf is roughly the colour of the one in the last picture so I’m wondering if I should do bluey/green walls too.

1. My creative space, 2. Craft Room, 3. New Studio, 4. Sewing corner, 5. New studio redo, 6. IMG_0475, 7. new studio!, 8. My “ironing center”, 9. The Posie studio, repainted and reorganized at last!
