Forest Friends Quilt- Finished!

Forest Friends Quilt- Finished!

I spent some of this afternoon sitting in a sunny spot in the lounge room finishing the last of this quilt;

I really enjoyed working on this and it will be sad (in a good way) to see it head off to it’s new owner – a sweet little 18 month old by the name of Georgia.

I was thinking about an article I read over at Make and Meaning (my new favourite blog), while working on this about process versus product. Normally I’m more of a product girl – I want a dress therefore I whip it up, then enjoy wearing it – but with the quilt I found I really enjoyed the process. It was quite relaxing once I got past the lining everything up (and unpicking) stage.

I look forward to working on another but for myself this time!

PS- I can’t seem to fix the RSS link up in the top corner- it seems to just spit out the feed rather than allow you to subscribe, so instead I’ve added a Subscribe button in the side bar – just pick your reader and follow along.

iphone case

21 Jan

I’ve had my phone for a few months now, I’ve had the fabric for the case picked out for a few months now, but alas no case was made.

Last night I arrived home and whipped one up, completely disregarding my initial choice of fabric*, proper measuring and careful cutting. It might also have benefited from a few pins during the sewing process.

Anyhoo – here it is!

*my initial choice was Hollabee’s beautiful Sumor. But the size of the case wouldn’t have done it justice.

Cutlery roll

12 Jan

The place I work for is cutting down on the amount of plastic plates and cutlery they provide (pardon the pun). It was recently on of my very good friend’s birthdays and because she just happens to also work at the afore mentioned workplace what better present that a cutlery roll so she can bring whatever lunch she likes and not worry about the child sized plastic cutlery.

It was very easy to make – no pattern required- and is a good stash buster for all those fat quarters lying around. I bought an extra set of cutlery to make myself one and when I do I’ll write up a tutorial.

Mobile – Stars and Circles

25 Nov

I whipped this one up tonight for a friend’s baby shower on the weekend.

The light is bad in this photo, but the felt colours are pretty close to actual.

This one just gives an idea of the overall mobile.

The technique of assembly was inspired by this mobile here.

Finished!

15 Nov

I have finally finished one of the mobiles from this post. There was nothing particularly challenging about it- I’ve just been very lazy with craft projects of late. They were almost impossible to photo graph though so this is the only picture I have to show you and it’s not very indicative of the finished product at all!
